One of the most beloved projects of the Laurel Village Association is the Art Garden. It is the swath of land next to the entrance to Highway 580 heading west on Delaware Street. The Art Garden began in 2005 as part of a beautification project and has evolved into a public space completely adopted by the Laurel Village Association, with a bench, planters and art in the form hub cabs that rolled off of automobiles in the area painted and decorated. There are also a few additional sculptures and new plants that show the neighbors have also adopted it as their special space.
On Saturday, February 23, 2013 John Donivan and Cyrille Waterman were both given Local Hero Awards for their work on the Laurel Art Garden. The members of the Laurel Village Association are currently working on a plan to landscape and redesign the garden and add a walking path. See more here.
Currently, we are working on building a path and adding new plants to re-landscape the Art Garden and make it a go-to place.
